Hi Brink! Thanks for this forum! It's a relief to see I'm not the only one with issues about windows 10.
Unfortunately, I'm having the same exact issue as Emilyj above. I tried installing the enable power button reg file, but no change. I've got an acer laptop with a battery. I need to be able to see the battery power indicator because my husband and I share a power cord. Plus, it used to always be there. Why is it missing/greyed out in windows 10?? I've spent hours going through every possible setting and menu and cannot solve this problem!
Have I missed a step somehow? (I downloaded and ran the exe.... that was it, right?)
Thanks. :)
Hello Maccabeth, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
It sounds like you may be missing a driver. What model number is your Acer laptop? I'll be happy to look up your driver download page at Acer for you to install any missing ones.
Here's the driver download page below for your Aspire 5830TG . You'll need to type Aspire 5830TG in the search by product model box to see them.
The only problem is that the drivers only list for Windows 8, but you can still install them to see if they may.

Can anyone pleasse help me? The power icon (showing battery's condition) keeps disappearing from the notification area of the taskbar taskbar and I'd like it to stay there. I go to 'settings', 'notifications', etc. and it comes back for a while. After a few hours or sometimes a day or so it's gone again and I have to do this all over. Sometimes when I go to 'show which icons to display' (or whatever it says) the power icon shows ON so I turn it off then back on. Same result. I have a Lenovo S510p laptop touchpad. When I had win. 8.1 it would do the same as it does with win.10 and I wasn't able to get a permanent fix. Please help me to get a permanent fix now. Thanks, Pops1
Hello Pops, :)
As a test, uninstall Lenovo Energy Management if installed to see if that may be causing the issue. If not, then you can download it again from Lenovo at the link below.

Ive done this. hopefully, it keeps working, i may not know for hours or days. Thanks, Brink, for the help. i'll let you know. Pops1
