Although an already answered question, let's make this clear for future readers of this thread.

This is not an error message, there's nothing wrong with ISO if and when this is shown:

It is a system notification, a warning to you when Windows setup detects an existing Windows installation on the machine which you have just booted up with install media.

Reading it carefully it tells you quite clearly what it is about. If you do not want to wipe your existing Windows installation, remove the install media (DVD or USB) and click Yes to restart. You can then do the upgrade starting Windows setup from desktop instead of booting with install media. If you really want to clean install Windows now, wiping the existing installation, click No.

Short answer: nothing is going on. That notification is there to protect you, a kind of "Are you sure you want to clean install now?" question.

The tool and the method in this tutorial work without issues with ESD file of the latest Insider Build 14390, released an hour ago.

Just created the ISO from the ESD and no issues encountered.

Please notice that the below is not confirmed factual information but is based on my personal experience with last two builds!

It looks as if upgrade will no longer remove the install.esd file from C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources folder. At least in my case until recently I had to grab the install.esd and create ISO before the actual upgrade process was started by restarting the computer, or copy the install.esd to another location to be used for ISO after the upgrade.

With two last builds Windows has kept the file intact on all machines I have upgraded.

I would like to hear from you geeks; please check if the C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\install.esd still exists after the upgrade.

Good news Edwin, thanks for confirming this. I still had it disappearing a few builds ago.

Trying to create the ISO from the W10 X64 Anniversary install.esd.

Downloaded the latest ESDtoISO.zip to E:\Temp\ESDtoISO and extracted content
Copied install.esd from C:\ESD to E:\Temp\ESDtoISO
Right clicked on ESDtoISO.cmd and selected Run as Administrator.
Selected Option2.
Get the following error after awhile:



This is under Win 10 Pro X64 10586.494. I've deleted the entire E:\tamp foler and subfolders and started over. Same problem. Same problem is I run from a elevated command prompt from the E:\Temp\ESDtoISO directory.

Any ideas or anything I can do to degug this?

I have had no chance to test with an ESD file, upgrading all my machines with ISO image I downloaded from MS. In all honesty it seems I made a bad decision, I thought I don't have to check the tool now because anyone can just download an official ISO image.

I will do some tests and see what can be done.
