Thanx Adam, I thought I was banned or something... LOL.

BTW I did notice some changes to the site... seems that didn't work as planned... maybe they should ask our Admin for some advice...this site is way more stable.

Works perfect, the clean install is much better than the upgrade.

    Well done

I had similar problem -- upgrade gave me an almost unuseable system. Clean install working fine (some known bugs -- but it is a TEST system isn't it !!). Creating ISO ==>bootable USB (no DVD drives on my system) and wiping old C drive and installing clean gave me a much better system - works fine apart from a couple of well known bugs - liveable with.

    Cheers

    Hi Peeps

Note for Windows build 10041 FROM 9926 you need to do the following

    1) In the updates - just Download the new build DO NOT INSTALL - exit the dialog when you see the box Install Now.
    2) Install.esd file is in C:\$Windows~BT\sources
    3) easy way to find it is search the C drive in Windows explorer with .ESD My file is around 2.31GB - simply then copy the file to where you can process it with the utility.

The .WIM file is in the recovery folder now - not the.ESD file.

Note - your PC might prompt you for a restart to install the update you've downloaded -- set it for say 8 hrs so you won't be bothered with the update for a while.

The first thing the ESD utility does is back up the original file and then it gets to work.

Then it appies image, then exporting image to a new boot.wim file

I copied all mine to a separate HDD before I started.

    Cheers

The download ESD and the one located your way outlined above both error out. Not sure about the first time as I was in a hurry but the second try gives a "error 13, the data is invalid" IT states that info is in the DISM.log file. Searched that file but it finds no "invalid" or "error 13" text string.

I have used the ESD to ISO on build 9926 so it did work before.

See my earlier post (quoted below), the reason for your error highlighted. The tool in this tutorial is based on older version of DISM and works only with the install.esd file created by the upgrade process on your computer. If you use downloaded ESD files (those with extremely long file name ) you need to use the latest version. The zip file (link in quoted post) includes the binaries to a newer DISM than used in the tool in this tutorial.

Using the new tool (script) with your downloaded ESD file you will have no issues.

Direct download links for the ESD files to be able to create your own ISO image:

All above ESD files are US English versions.

Thanks to our admin @z3r010 for the tip :).

With these ESD files you need to use the latest decryption script: Attachment 14925
Remember to run the tool elevated!

I renamed it to "install.esd" before trying but I may have found the problem. Isn't the "DISM" folder supposed to be in the "Recovery" folder?? Mine is in the created ESD folder.

    EDIT:
    Nope, that where it belongs.

You may have to 'Unblock' the ESD files.

Tried the unblock on the downloaded ESD, same error and that was after downloading the ESDtoISO conversion tool again. I think that I give up for tonight!
