because it works and has the latest keys, that's why.
The current ESDtoISO from this tut worked fine. Are you saying differently?

OK mate, I didn't read the entire thread and I only saw where keys were being modified, and I know the one I recommended has all the latest keys, so if I should have read the entire thread then I made an inappropriate suggestion.

Last builds (15063 & 16170) are not available as ESD upgrades, only as UUP upgrades. See this tutorial: UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files - Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials

Kari, you did a great job with this. I am creating a Windows 10 Technician's PC, getting all my DISM tools set up, and I had an install.esd, versus an install.wim, and wanted to convert it to match the instructions in setting up the tech PC, and your conversion method did the trick.

Ztruker, who has the wim versus the esd file, you do not need to use the tool to convert the esd to an iso. A wim is more like and iso than an esd already. The wim in your recovery partition can be used directly by your recovery media to restore your PC. It really depends on the EOM provider whether they use a wim or an iso, but I tend to see wim's used more often.

What are you trying to achieve? If you really want to convert a wim to iso I think you can just use the Windows AIK for that.

There is no difference between WIM and ESD other than compression method. A WIM is serviceable while an ESD is not because the ESD files are compressed in solid format, which enables it to become even smaller in size than a WIM. Both file types can be indexed and hold multiple images.

If I see an ESD file, I often extract it and recapture it into a WIM, so I can later easily upgrade the images using DISM.

The tool we use in these scripts is a decrypter, some other tools and WimLib-ImageX , which is much faster than DISM. The speed difference is HUGE! We also use this set of binaries and scripts, because they are portable, takes as little space as humanly possible and it automates most of the tasks when converting Windows upgrade files into bootable ISO setup media.
