Windows 10: ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File
I remember when you did that and I do not understand why that "fixed" the problem. I do understand why it would be reasonable to assume because it fixed the problem the Install.esd referenced in your tutorial is in fact encrypted. I am fairly comfortable in saying again it is not. The reason I say that is because I have used some old decrypter versions that could not possibly be aware of the "newer" crypto key and they succeeded in converting the ESD to ISO. That leads me to believe that the Install.esd found in the Sources folder of new builds is not encrypted. I am also confident that the decrypter version offered in this tutorial would in fact convert the Install.esd to an ISO even if all the crypto keys were removed.
It really is all probably a moot point, because I think that MS will eventually remove our ability to get the Install.esd. The way forward is UUP to ISO.
I completely agree. Made this exactly for that reason: UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files
Thanks Kari for all your work. I am thankful you are at Windows TenForums.
Has anybody tried clean install to a different drive/ machine with an iso created from UUP? The alleged boot.wim hasn't got the setup files , and is just winre.wim renamed.
There are workarounds.
I had no issues in using ISO made from UUP files. Anyway, I also tested creating the install.wim from UUP files, then this method to write ISO: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...ion.html#Part5
Can somebody please upload the boot.wim created from the ESD download ? ( Not the fake boot.wim created from UUP files - that is in fact winre.wim ).
I will have a look and see if it is possible to construct something like real boot.wim from UUP files.
I suspect the simplest solution is to add (to fake boot.wim ) a menu to access some way of partitioning drives and applying wim.

@SIW2, here's boot.wim from an ISO made from install.esd of Build 15002 Education x64 using tool in this tutorial: boot.wim
We seem to be missing testplugin.dll - unless it is hiding somewhere in UUP files.
