The only problem is that I can't find the ISO afterwards. I watched the whole process; it was building the necessary files in the isofolder, then it disappeared when it was done. I searched the PC and it didn't find any ISO file. I feel the instructions aren't clear enough to indicate that. For now I downloaded what I needed from the Insider website. It would be nice to know for next time what esdtoiso does with with the file. Thanks.

can you include a screenshot of what you are calling the isofolder, and the folder contents of the folder where you have the ESDtoISO batch file? Please set you folder options to include hidden files before you do the screenshot. Thanks.

While the esdtoiso command did its job, I had the c:\RecoveryImage open, and I could see it creating an Isofolder where it put the different files it was creating. It was gone when the command was done.
Anyway, meanwhile I found a new iso-file in the esdtoiso folder. So I answered my own question, and I know now where the command puts the image.
But it's strange that the image wasn't for the Windows 10 build I am running right now (10130), it was for 10074, which I had upgraded from.

    Strange

The date of that .bak file (May 2nd) suggests it is the 10074. Other than that, I really have no idea where your ESD file has gone?
    Thanks Kari (that's what I suspected). :)

So you are saying there has been no change in the way the upgrades work and I should have an ESD file?
    That is strange.
    I wonder where it went.

It's also strange that I didn't get a notification about replies to this thread until now.

The EDStoISO batch file will always put the new ISO in the folder from which it is run. You got 10074 ISO because (IMO) the install.esd file was from build 10074. There's nothing in the properties to indicates what build the install.esd file is for (except the creation date). If you still have the "$Windows.~BT" folder on your C: drive, or backed up somewhere, look in subfolder "Sources" for the Install.esd file. Copy it to your workfolder for ESDtoISO. Run the batch file. If it prompts you to enter a name for Install.esd because it found more than 1, enter the name you just copied. If you give it a 10130 install.esd file, it will give you a 10130 ISO. BTW, I suggest you use option #1, create WIM format.

If all you're trying to do is get a 10130 ISO, just go here: Download Windows 10 Insider Preview ISO - Microsoft Windows

Thanks, f14tomcat, for clarifying. I understand how it works.

    Note   Note
Please notice that the tool and this tutorial both work as earlier, without issues with today's new Build 10158. I have now created British English and US English ISO images following the steps told in this tutorial to test the validity of it.

    @ Kari :
My 10158 ESD file is 2.56GB,
    is that correct for size?

It would be useful if you post the link for the esd.

My win10 install keeps downloading 100130, which always fails to install, and screws up the rest of the system. Persistent little s***, keeps doing it.

The only way I can think of is to d/l the esd on another os.

My US English ESD file was damaged causing a damaged ISO, have to start from scratch. At the moment I only have a usable UK English ISO:
