You are correct... It's not like there was any question about that , I just needed to figure out where I went wrong?
The mistake I've made is to run "regedit" as an admin to change the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" hives settings, while logged in as a standard users. Doing so changed the web search settings for the admin, but not for the currently logged in UID. No harm done, just need to pay more attention to the tutorial next time...
On the other hand, changing the "HKEY_USERS" hive with appropriate SID works just as well. The mistake opened up an other venue to control the web search...
