Hello psychok9, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
I'm glad you hear you got it sorted, but you must of had some other unrelated issue happening at the same time since nothing in the .bat file could have caused that.

I'm glad you hear you got it sorted, but you must of had some other unrelated issue happening at the same time since nothing in the .bat file could have caused that.
Shawn, after pointing this tutorial to numerous people whose updates weren't working, there were some cases when this script went into loop and there was no way of escaping from it-Specially when any of the 4 services were starting or stopping.
Could you please improve this-(I am sure you will) such that it doesn't stuck in a loop when the service is starting/stopping.Either it should exit or stop execution or something similar?
Thanks.
Hello Sumit, :)
They should be able to kill it in Task Manager if needed, but I'll see if I can get a counter added to the loop soon to have it give a failure message and end if a service cannot be stopped.
@Sumitdhiman
Ok. I have updated the .bat file to include a counter in the loop. If a service fails to stop after 3 attempts, the .bat file will automatically end with a failure message and prompt to press a key to continue. When a key is pressed, the .bat file will then restart ay service it had stopped before closing. :)
Many Thanks for this!
Seems like you had to do some good hardwork for this-By looking at the new code!
It was my pleasure.
It wasn't too much to add the code. The hardest part was jogging my memory on DOS. LOL
Hello laramietim, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
That error means that the .bat file was unable to reset your Windows Update since it was not able to stop the bits (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) service.
You might see if you may be able to manually stop and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service service. If it won't stop normally, then you could see if it may after restarting the computer, or doing this while in safe mode.

If successful, try running the .bat again.
