    Hi,

Firstly this is a very thorough and fantastic Thread on this very common issue. Secondly, it didn't work for me!

Not that it makes a difference, but I'm running Windows 10 Pro in VirtualBox (latest version) under Ubuntu. This was running in a Domain using WSUS, however WSUS was removed on the server and was running standard Windows Updates. All other computers are able to retrieve Updates without any issues, except mine. I've gone as far as as using all your instructions both while this computer was in the Domain, and again after I removed it from the Domain. Both times and at all times I get the "We couldn't connect to the update service" I've even gone as far as removing all firewalls and still it never works. Removed Automatic Proxy, set DNS to 8.8.8.8. still nothing! So far I wait for major updates and then re-install Windows from ISO to the latest patch. I know my next step is a clean-install but thought I'd reach out to you, in case I've missed something?

    Hello,

Does it eventually clear and reset Windows Update for you?

    Do you mean this line?
    del /s /q /f "%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\WindowsUpdate\*"
