    It resolved the problem. thus far no side effects as far as I can tell.

    what was the root cause of the operating system getting corrupted?

    Great news.

    It could be from a number of things including:
    • Sudden power interruption
    • Improper shut down
    • Hard drive error
    • Bad update
    • Bug

    I have a PC where Windows Update is failing. It keeps giving me the Retry button. Is the bat file still good to use on 21H2?

    Hello Rick,

    Yes. The BAT file is safe to use in all builds and versions of Windows 10.

    I hope it will fix Windows Update for you.

    As it turns out, the system I was having problems with was up-to-date when I went to it today so I didn't have to run the script. I think once October's updates were released, whatever issue was preventing the updates was resolved. Thanks again!

    What the actual... And I can't stress this enough... F***.... This is just pure awesome. I registered on this forum only to say Thank you! Doing this manually is always repetitive and in the process you can always forget / skip something.. and this... this is just awesome. I went through the whole script and went though all commands and I just want to say THANK YOU!!! You are an awesome human being (I hope you are human) . Have a lovely day!
