My original problem was in updating to the version 20H2 from 1903.
You wrongly assumed that you were updating to 20H2. If you want 20H2, see option one below:

This is just TOO complicated for me! Does MS require such an elaborate procedure simply for updating the Windows?

Don't worry. Thousands of members here are eager to walk you through the procedure, but you have to go through the tutorial first.

    Hi, Shawn,
When the Download site was clicked, a warning/error message said that Reset_Reregister_Wi...bat was blocked because it could harm your device and therefore it could not be downloaded. What shall I do?

    Hello nanatsu,

No worries. It's a default security measure whenever you try to run or open a file downloaded from an external source.

You would just need to either unblock it first or approve when you open or run it.

Is there any way to capture the output from this bat? At the end of the run, there was a msg that something was "access denied", but then it very quickly cleared the screen and went to the "restart now screen".
Part of the damage to my Win10 from the latest forced update was that UAC is wrongly denying access to certain programs, eg. Services and Device Manager etc.

Also, there were quite a few "registry key or value was not found." I just ran them from an admin cmd to see which produces that error. E.g, the first is regsvr32.exe /s atl.dll
But there were no errors produced that way, copy/pasting in about 10 at a time.

The command cls is used in the batch script, so all the previous messages will be deleted before the "restart" message appears. You can see the previous messages if cls has been deleted from the batch script.
    Code:
    :: Restart computer
    cls
echo It is required to restart the computer to finish resetting Windows Update.
    echo.
echo Please save and close anything open now, before the computer is restarted.
    echo.

Perfect, thanks! I therefore identified this:
    Code:
    C:\Users\Main>sc config DcomLaunch start= auto
    [SC] OpenService FAILED 5:

    Access is denied.
Is that a significant problem or something trivial?

    [Edit: DcomLaunch is running.]

    Hello Bob,

It wouldn't be an issue since the service is already running.

It does look like you are not running the command in an elevated command prompt though.
