How to Display Apps in Full Screen View in Windows 10

    information   Information
Universal Windows apps (aka: modern apps) can now be opened in resizable windows on your desktop like any other app now in Windows 10.

This tutorial will show you how to display universal apps in full screen view in Windows 10.

    Note   Note
When you display a universal app in full screen view, it will not always stay that way. The next time you open the app, it will display in a window on your desktop as usual.

While you have tablet mode turned on, app will always open in full screen view and cannot be reduced.

    Hello!

When I play a game (universal app) in full screen, I cannot exit to maximized or windows again. I tried with the mouse around all the corners and at the top of the screen, no controls are revealed to click on them. I can only press ALT+ESC to minimize the game or ALT+F4 to close it. Please tell my if there is any keyboard combination or mouse shortcut to exit full screen mode! I could not find the menu choice to exit full screen as shown in some websites. Am I missing something? I have the same problem on both build 10240 (my main computer) and build 10586 (my test computer).

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Spapakons,

Is there a specific free game that does this? I'll see if I can test with it to see what's up.

The title bar should slide down from the top when you move the pointer to the edge of the top border, or swipe down on a touch screen. Double check to make sure the app is active by clicking in it first.

I've updated the tutorial to include screenshots of Microsoft Mahjong to help.

Just checked, yes this works in my test computer (Windows 10 Pro 32-bit build 10586), but not in my main computer (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit build 10240). Did I do something with the settings and disabled this? Anyway.

Could be an issue in that build. You might update it to TH2 build 10586 when you get a chance to see if it works properly afterwards.

I checked again. In my test PC (Windows 10 Pro 32-bit build 10586, resolution 1024x768) works. In my Virtual PC (VMWare, Windows 10 Pro 32-bit build 10586, resolution 1440x900) works. In my main PC (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit build 10240, resolution 1440x900) doesn't. I thought it has to do with my main PC using non-standard resolution, but not. I will try it again once I upgrade to build 10586. Thank you for your time.

Hello! I just upgraded in Windows 10 Pro 64-bit TH2 (build 10586). I tested and I have no problems now. When I put the mouse on top of the full screen app, the bar appears where I can resume to window or minimize or close the app. Probably there was some system file issue in build 10240 that was fixed while upgrade replaced my system files.

    Thank you Bink.
