    Helo ,
I have some problem to choose what is USB Bootable system that i will use to instal Windows 10 in my Laptop Asus A455L.
I have check my disk partition which is now GPT and already installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit so i will tell you story. Before this i have problem when instaling this Win8 because before Win8 my laptop using Win 7 stock, i buy this second laptop from my friend. Its say "windows can not be installed to this disk the selected disk has an MBR partition table on EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks" and i'm so confused with this i can't boot because i have format C partition, an then finally i do convert to GPT and i lost all my files.

So here help me to decide what i should choose on Rufus?
GPT or MBR marked on red box, and which method i choose 1 or 2 ?
    Attachment 46258
For now my hardisk partition is GPT and i dont want to lost all of my important files.
    Thank You
Hello Semprot, and welcome to Ten Forums.

As Noel posted above, you should have it set using step 6 in OPTION TWO.

I'm looking into creating a recovery Flash Drive or DVD (preferably both), and I have two questions.

If I understood this tutorial (and a few others) correctly, I can use the same Flash Drive for refreshing, resetting, or doing a clean install. Is this correct?

Also, I recently downloaded an ISO file (4GB) to repair my Windows image with DISM. Is there a not too difficult way to use this file to create bootable medium, or will I be better off using the Media Creation Tool and repeating the download?

    Hello Greg,

Yes, that's correct. A Windows 10 installation USB will also include WinRE to be able to refresh, reset, clean install, etc... with.

You can usually use DISM from within Windows without needing an ISO file unless the default Windows image is corrupted to have to use the ISO as the image source instead.

I like to download the ISO directly.

Thank you for your reply, but you misunderstood my second question. (I may have worded it badly.) I've already downloaded the ISO and successfully repaired my image with it. My question was regarding creating an installation USB. Would it be easier to make the USB using the already downloaded ISO or to use the Media Creation Tool and possibly doing another download. (If creating a USB using a previously downloaded ISO was explained in the tutorials I read, I seem to have missed it.)

    Edited to add:

Never mind my comment about my second question. I just needed to reread Option 2.

Sorry about that. Yes, it would be easier to use the ISO you already have to create a USB with.

I am sure this s obvious, but in step 8 when Windows creates the USB install pen, this does auto boot to install Windows 10 without needing to boot in advanced mode etc.

    thanks

    Hello Steve,

It's not quite automatic, but the tutorial below can help show you how to boot from the USB.
