Summary - Just use the USB you have just made.

The MCT reformats the USB so you do not need to and the MCT decides on the file system [which is Fat32 when you use MCT to make the USB].
You can check your existing USB's file system. Run File explorer, select ThisPC and look on the right-hand side, select your USB and its file system will be displayed
    - in the Preview pane if that is set to appear, and/or
    - by right-clicking on the USB drive & selecting Properties.

You used this tutorial to use the MCT before.
You asked how to check which Version the USB was so I told you.
I thought you had said that you had just made that USB so the Version on it will be the latest Version.

I didn't tell you any new way to do anything in my last post. I just responded to what was in your previous post.
    What is confusing you?

The confusing part for me is when I asked if there was anything I could check after the MCT did it's thing the USb didn't look any different ( files and folders I mean ) so I asked how I can check something on the USB to make sure I got the latest version. You sent a link and I didn't find what it said to look for. So that made me even more unsure.

I checked to system file on the USb and it was FAT 32 So I formatted the USB and chose FAT 32 and now once again using the MCT to create the boobable USB.
Please don't be offended you did nothing wrong, you tried to help me but I get uneasy trying to learn something new when Iahve to do it. So that is why I wanted to use the method I know better. I appreciate your help,

Option three, step 2: The Windows USB DVD download tool is no longer available when you click the download link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/404Error.aspx

I will use rufus instead but the Microsoft DVD tool would have been simpler for me. 8(

    Regarding Option two step 5:
"Do step 6 (BIOS or UEFI), step 7 (UEFI only), or step 8 (Legacy BIOS only) below depending on if you want to create a bootable USB with or without UEFI support."

I want to make sure I understand the wording, is it saying to do step 6 if you want to choose between Bios or UEFI, or to do step 6 if you have a computer that has both bios and uefi?
When I go into my bios it has UEFI, but has the option to change the boot to Legacy also instead of UEFI. So I guess I have both? So I'm not really sure which I should choose, Step 6, 7, or 8?

    thank you

Step 6 means the USB will be bookable in both UEFI and legacy BIOS modes, depending on which mode the computer asks for.

NavyLCDR is correct. Such an InstallUSB will be bootable in both Uefi computers & Bios computers.

If, like me, you still have some old Bios computers knocking around, Step 6 means that you'll only need the single USB to boot them from [you will not need separate InstallUSBS for the different types of computer].

    All the best,

Well basically true but of course pcs have to be same bit type usually 64bit (admittedly very few 32bit pcs around).

However, a lot of pcs now only have nvme drives, and it is quite poor the standard installation tool does not include IRST drivers in case needed. NVME drives are not "New Kid on the Block" - been around a few years.

Even MS advice I saw was poor - saying turn off Raid - on my laptop, there is no bios option to do so. I need IRST - end of story.
So I have a batch file that injects the driver into boot.wim and install.wim.

My customised usb drives boot on just about any 64 bit pc.
