Rufus 3.5 adds an option to download an ISO as well. Currently in beta.

I tried that, but it couldn't find the ISO, so . . .

    Brink,

First, let me say a hearty Thanks! for all the work you have already put into tutorials and assistance to newbs and regulars alike here and in the other Windows[x] forums. As I started to learn more about my &@#% computer, and was forced by circumstances to move away from W7 to W10, I started seeing the name Brink and your lovely gray face more and more in my search results for help keeping things running smoothly as Windows kept changing! I really think Microsoft doesn't understand how much their user base depend on this site and others for keeping their Windows systems up and running. Sorry for the ramble, but it's true.

Would it be possible for you to add a 'Manual method' option to this tutorial, like the Option Two given here:

    https://www.eightforums.com/threads/...windows.15458/

updated to reflect any particulars to Windows 10. I have seen short versions of the procedure here in TenForums by some of the Gurus, and I really like the manual method, even though it takes more steps, as it does not depend on any other (non-Windows) software to use to 'create' the bootable USB drive. I would really like to see your polished version enshrined in a tutorial for us OCD types to link to... Again, many thanks!
I did that before I discovered Rufus and it was a pain in the tookus! My vote is for Rufus . . . especially the newer version 3.4. What could be easier? And it's free!

In my opinion diskpart is easier. But I know the commands and if the user doesn't know the commands then a third party program probably will be easier for them.

    What are the command prompts?

    diskpart
    list disk
select disk # <-replace # with the actual number of the USB flash drive
clean <-this will erase the drive selected above. Maker sure it is the USB flash drive!
    convert mbr
    create partition primary
    format fs=fat32 quick
    active
    assign
    exit
    exit

Now just copy the files and folders from the mounted Windows 10 installation ISO file to the USB flash drive.

Why is this better than just format the UFD with FAT32?

It ensures that you get a USB flash drive that is universally bootable in both UEFI and Legacy BIOS (or CSM mode) computers. It gets you back to a point where you have no questions as to exactly how the USB flash drive is partitioned and formatted.

No necessary, Brink - Many thanks for adding this as an official tutorial (Now it's just that much harder for me to lose it...)
