I just used your .bat file to restore the location of my Desktop and it wiped everything on it. It's all gone.
Hello, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Your files should still be in the old location of the Desktop folder.

I used the "Location" to move my "Downloads" folder to the Desktop and then used your Restore_Downloads_Default_Location.bat to restore the folder that was deleted, but the download location stayed on the Desktop...

I Tried to move the location again, and of course it said invalid location and then I clicked "Restore Default" and that seems to have moved the location back to the "Downloads" folder.

    Great news.

Sometimes a combo of both may be needed when really messed up.

Super thumbs up to Shawn. Onedrive sure corrupts the file explorer system. I had to remove Onedrive. Man, the bat files worked great.

I should mention that OneDrive was the origin of the problem. Rearranged all of the file explorer defaults to my onedrive. Super messed up. Slowed the computer. Corrupted FileExplorer. But Shawn's scripts got things back to where they should be.

    Fantastic.
I have just spent several days rebuilding Windows 10 on a new pc and came across the problem of Onedrive taking over. I use my pc for photo editing and have years of data on different hard drives , so this lot is never going to fit in one OneDrive folder on my C: drive. I noticed that OneDrive had taken over several of my 'Folders'. I managed to change all but Downloads and Pictures by the first method which I have used without fail on many occasions before, but when I tried on Downloads and Pictures I came to 'Access Denied' at he end. By this time I was getting very frustrated that I allowed OneDrive onto my pc. I used your batch method and all is restored. I have now deleted Onedrive from my pc and will never allow it near again.
    Thank you again.

I accidentally relocated the Contacts folder to my Data folder of my E drive. Instead of moving Contacts to E:\Data\Contacts I moved it to E:\Data. I thought I'd fixed it but when I open the Data folder Windows Explorer thinks it's the Contacts folder because there are New Contact buttons and others related to the Contacts folder under the Address bar. Can you help me fix this please?

Hello thowl, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Just to confirm, which folder opens in the address bar of File Explorer when you run shell:contacts in Run (Win+R)?
