:) The only thing I am missing is Chess Titans. Otherwise set it up how it worked for me. But I really want a good chess program - and not one that needs internet access.

Chess titans can be done :) along with the all the other original Vista/W7 games. There is a thread somewhere... not sure if the files are still up though. I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks! I did see that thread - further along I think it wasn't working so well any more and other articles say a Windows 10 update removed the games again or something. Maybe someone will come up with another fix for it. Or maybe that one does still work. It would be nice if Microsoft just let us download them though!

Did you go to post#43 and download the files. I use the x64 file and it works great on the latest W10 Pro 64bit.
Some of the games don't install a start tile but you can go to the Program Files - Microsoft Games folder and pin the exe to Start.

You stated that “the GenuineTicket.xml file can only be used on the PC it was originally created on.” Is it also tied to the same hard drive that Win7 resides on. I would like the clean install to be done on a new hard drive. Will Win10 still activate if there is a hardware change using this method?

You should be fine Michael, Windows 10 will still activate on your new HD. You can't change the motherboard thou. but changing your hard drives or graphic cards is fine.

You might want to make a complete image backup 1st before doing your upgrade to Windows 10 Michael, for insurance. This way if something goes wrong, you can switch back to your Windows 7 at anytime in the future. A program like Macrium Reflect free version would be a very good choice to make your image backup.

I have a number of mixed related questions.
When Activating Win10 using the GenuineTicket.xml method offline, will it work after the July expiry date? If you generate the GenuineTicket.xml before the July expiry date, can you do a clean install and activate it after the July expiry date? How long can Win10 remain off line without compromising the product activation, without it being revoked? How does Microsoft monitor this activity?
