Great news.
Thanks to you my life are easier.
This is bad I couldn't run drivers in compatibility mode to windows 7. I solved by extracting the files and then run it. they'll need to work on compatibility with older computers that have windows 7 coz this become hell.
8 more to go I'll update here if there is anything important
Regards
I have just done a clean install of Windows 8 Pro onto a new hard drive, using a Windows 8 upgrade disc, and activated by phone. Do I need to do all the W8 updates, and then upgrade to 8.1, before I can do a clean install of Windows 10? Or could I just do the tutorial you have written on the new w8 install without doing all the updates, and then clean install W10? Thanks.
Hello Hazel, :)
You could upgrade or clean install directly to Windows 10 now if you like without having to install any updates or go to 8.1 first.
Brink is correct, there is no need to do any updates to Windows 8.0.
Thank you. So when I do the tutorial - copying the file to the desktop - presumably this needs to be done on the machine with the Windows 8 on it? Sorry if that is a dumb question!
Apologies - I'm still a bit confused. There is the option to create a Windows 10 iso and use your Windows 8 key I believe as well. When I tried to make a Windows 10 iso ('for another pc') on my main laptop it allowed me to choose the language and 32 bit but there was no option for Windows 10 Pro, just Windows 10 or N or something other version.
Or - I could use the option in this tutorial but presumably would need to connect to the internet to download the iso or windows 10 media creation tool, so then I'd have to do the Windows updates first.
Which do you think would be easiest to do a clean install of Windows 10 when Windows 8 is installed without the Windows Updates please? I don't think just doing the clean install of Windows 10 and adding my W8 product key would work would it, if it's an 'upgrade' key - and anyway can't find the iso for W10 pro.
I was just about to start again, installing W8 after messing something up and have wiped the drive (long story). So was wondering if I could now do the clean install of Windows 10 using the Windows 8 product key without actually re-installing Windows 8 again.
As long as you have installed and activated your W8.1 copy on the PC in question then you can clean install W10. From memory...
1/ Just create a normal W10 ISO from the appropriate link (not the N version or any other odd options, just W10). Make sure you choose the correct 32 or 64 bit version.
2/ When you clean install it I think (again from memory) it will automatically pick the correct version (pro or not) because your PC is already activated with the qualifying W8 license. All editions of W10 are included in the ISO you create. If by chance it didn't automatically pick the correct one, or you had a license code to enter on install, then the option to manually choose your W10 version appears.
Does that help :)
