It is not clearly stated in either the EULA or the FAQs that you can't have both. It just gives the regular upgrade procedure but does not mention dual booting anywhere. Granted, without using this tutorial, you can't do it so maybe it's the tutorial that is in violation more than me. The tutorial tells you how to circumvent the normal procedure which is exactly what I did. You can't be in violation if it is not clearly stated that what you did is wrong, and, it is not.
It's pretty clear from the EULA:

    2. Installation and Use Rights.
    a. License. The software is licensed, not sold. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install and run one instance of the software on your device (the licensed device), for use by one person at a time, so long as you comply with all the terms of this agreement. Updating or upgrading from non-genuine software with software from Microsoft or authorized sources does not make your original version or the updated/upgraded version genuine, and in that situation, you do not have a license to use the software.
Nope. If you do what it says in the tutorial, then it's only doing what the upgrade to Windows 10 does.

If you do what you did and kept both Windows installations activated and installed, then you are violating the EULA. It's been this way forever for any upgrade copy of Windows.

Don't say I didn't warn you when find your Windows deactivated one day.

As I said in my edited post. I just tried it to see if it would work. I didn't think it would and was surprised when it did. If they deactivate the Windows 10 installation, I don't really care but they'd better leave the Windows 7 alone.

    Hello Dell, :)

Double check the steps to see if you may have made a mistake somewhere.

Ah, ok. It sounds like you didn't copy the gatherosstate.exe file to your desktop, and "Run as admin" on the file on the desktop.

    Hi Shawn, how are you?
Thanks for another great tutorial !

When you say the clean install must be for the same version, that means 32-Bit or 64-Bit, right ?
    I have a triple-boot box with W7 32-Bit and i want to upgrade that OS to W10 64-Bit.
So, this tutorial won't work for what i want to do ?

Could I do clean install of W10 32-Bit using this tutorial, then do a "normal" clean install of Win 10 64-Bit ?
Or, should i do a normal Win 10 upgrade which would give me Win 10 32-Bit (upgrade), then do a normal clean install of Win 10 64-Bit ?

    tyia, David
