You are violating the EULA by having both installed and activated at the same time. Eventually one or both will become deactivated.

You are suppose to no longer have Windows 7 activated as long as you have the free Windows 10 installed and activated.
Yes Shawn brother you are absolutely correct . i agree with you . He is Voilating EULA of MS TOS.

Older Dell Laptop Win 7 Ult to 10 Pro?

This one is driving me NUTS! Have been failing 'upgrade' because of the 'NX' problem in the Intel 2.6GHz processor Dell laptop. Have 'patched' the UAC and DEP settings (postings/help sites including ZD.net) BUT it is still failing due to the 'NX' limitation. Other than this 'NX' thing my system has the specs. SOME of the researched ppl said they were finally successful with a CLEAN install then use the 7 ult license BUT everything else I tried failed and I still want to be able to use this laptop. Is there a solution besides trashing a very good laptop? BTW, the BIOS are the last and latest but that 'NX' issue was never address (actual hardware limit in the SL6WZ mobile processor). Any ideas like a clean inst with win 7 ult license? Thanks in advance!

Shrink the existing OS partition by 64 gb, create an empty partition in the free space and then you can try a clean install to see if it will work without losing your existing Windows 7.

Thank you LCDR, however there is only about 35GB free on the 60GB ATA100 laptop HDD. Since I stripped everything off win7, can I install a win 10 on @30GB free? This way if it does install, I'll just delete the existing and merge that old win 7 into the 1 win 10 HDD install? It has been quite a while since splitting a HDD, not sure of exactly how I would do it as well so that it'll boot into the win 10 install and not the win 7 install. It's just going to be a struggle unless the win 7 license will activate after a total system clean install. I do have the modular HDD bay I can use but again, its been a long time since doing those types of installs (XP to win 7) a loooooong time ago. So, does anyone know for sure if a win 7 license will activate a clean install win 10? That would solve my problem (maybe, with that dang 'NX' thing). Another option? Could I use a USB backup drive to 'hold' the win 7 if a clean win 10 install doesn't work? I seem to remember win 7 being real tricky about a backup drive 'restoring' a wiped HDD (during the win 10 clean inst try).

Again, this last chance from all the research, some were able to bypass that 'NX' processor limitation by a clean install. If it doesn't work I would like to revert back to the win 7 ult and keep it there.

I jumped through hoops to get windows 7 to install on X570. I got my genuineticket.xml, backed up but after putting the file in:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\ClipSVC\GenuineTicket
I rebooted and checked system and it says not activated. Also it says Windows 10 pro N. Could this be the problem? I have windows 10 pro N on my SSD and windows 7 pro on a hard drive. I activated windows 7 pro retail online. Would it help if I signed in to my user account?

You have to install Windows 10 Pro. That's the version that will activate from the Windows 7 Pro license. Windows 10 Pro N is a different edition of Windows 10. Why did you install 10 Pro N?
