Odd indeed. Thank you for posting back with your findings. I'm sure it will help others with the same issue.

    Necro-resurrect:

    Thanks, again, for this tutorial.

My question: why cannot MS put the phrase "Safe Mode" somewhere in the control panel???

Explicitly, first I must open the control panel, navigate to "Recovery", choose "Advanced Startup" (the description of which does not contain any clue that "Safe Mode" is accessed by it), then, upon rebooting, I see "Choose an Option", none of which have the phrase "Safe Mode", select "Troubleshoot", then select "Advanced Options" (I still haven't seen "Safe Mode" and we're 6 steps in so far), select "Startup Settings", click "Restart", and THEN and ONLY THEN do I see an option for "Safe Mode".

8 menus deep and the phrase is NOT EVEN VISIBLE...until the ninth step.

I would strongly suggest that "Safe Mode" be included in the description of some of the above steps. If anyone here has any contact with MS, that would be...helpful.

    Thanks.

    Hello Ken,

Yeah, there are quite a few hoops to jump through to get to Safe Mode by default.

    Hi dear Shawn
Without being a Microsoft engineer you cannot boot to safe mode if windows is corrupted and cannot boot normal way! Why? Why do we need safe mode if we cannot access it easy when needed? I have to force shutdown the pc 3 times just to have the repair window, even then you'll need to dig into the menu and restart again just to get to simple safe mode. Well one thing is for sure windows 10 is the worst os ever built.
As a technician, making a living from it I can't complain but just thinking that average user can't even boot the computer in safe mode for simple backup make me wonder why they are doing it for loyal users?

I tried from windows installation media but still can't find safe mode. Do you know about a away to do it from instillation media?

    Cheers

    Hello Nissim,

Unfortunately, Safe Mode is not available via Windows installation media, but you could use Option 3 in a command prompt at boot to do so from installation media.

In an unbootable situation like that, yeah, you'll have to do the force shutdown 3 times to get to advanced options.

This is one reason why I like adding Safe Mode to the boot menu to be safe.

    Hi Shawn,

Yeh for sure adding safe mode to the boot menu is a must, but in my case it'll not help, It's customer computer.

Thanks for the tip about using cmd, better than nothing. I might use it if it'll work from bootable disk like Gandalf’s Windows

    Shawn,

I could not find an equivalent procedure in TenForums already so I have reposted an MSA forum article of mine in TenForums
How to - Escape from an MSConfig-induced Safe mode boot loop - TenForums

If there is an existing procedure here that I failed to find then please say so and I'll alter/remove my new thread.

It will be my TenForums thread that gets maintained rather than the MSA article.

    Hello Denis @Try3,

It looks like it would be the same steps as option 3 but just included the linked steps for opening a command prompt at boot.

Yes, you are right. I have amended my thread around that.
