Maggy, just don't forget to create a system image beforehand, "just-in-case".

Well at first the upgrade just wouldn't work at all. Then I remembered that I had used Shawn's reg fix to stop the OS upgrading and once I'd reset that all went smoothly. The download was pretty quick; a couple of issues trying to avoid using Express Settings, but now all seems to be working okay.

So the next thing is to do a new System Image of the new W10 installation...

After an upgrade from Win7 to Win10 (32bit) I was stucked on the Windows 10 version 10240, but the "re upgrade to win10" as described above helped. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Cliff. It's been a few days now, including an update Tuesday, and all seems okay so far.

hello and thanks for the all the info here...
i am uncertain however - does the repair install remove all the programs i have installed on the computer (adobe audition, firefox, irfanview, etc?) but keep documents and pictures and such? or will it leave all those programs and just reinstall the OS files?
i'd like to be certain, as reinstalling all my audio recording software, and all the shortcuts within the program, would kill a day's work...
the reason i would like to try it is my start button stopped working and the suggested fixes i've found online did not work for me, and additionally, the computer seems to be slower now opening folders and saving files and other windows explorer type functions...

thanks in advance for the help

Hi @Fish62858 welcome to Ten Forums, a repair install or as it's also called, Upgrade installation, only makes changes(repairs) system files.

One addition to last post: It also repairs the Windows Store and Universal Apps.
