    Hi Shawn,

The issue with Media Creation Tool which I was facing has been solved by System Restore but the new issue is my own Internet connection. It is getting disconnected some time. So, will Media Creation Tool be able to resume the download progress?

Also, I had contacted Microsoft live support and asked them about the ISO files available at Windows 10 ISO. And they said that it cannot be used for first-time upgrade.

I can only use the ISO downloaded via Media Creation Tool for first-time upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

So, can you please help me with it?

Brink your last step here what are the drawbacks to doing this will i not be able to refresh or roll back windows if i needed to?? 24. If you like, you could use Disk Cleanup to delete the Windows upgrade log files, Previous Windows installation(s), and Temporary Windows installation files items to free up the large amount of space that they take on your hard drive. (see screenshots below)

    Hello Tony,

Correct. If you delete the Windows.old folder, you will no longer be able to go back to a previous version of Windows.

You can use the ISO created from the Media Creation Tool to upgrade to Windows 10 on your activated windows 7 by doing step 5 in the tutorial on the first page. :)

So, even if Internet get disconnected for a while, Media Creation Tool will be able to resume its progress without any interruption?

By the way, does this method need Windows 7 SP1 too? (it's not a big problem, but still!). Also, are there any important update which are important before preceding to upgrade to Windows 10?

    Hello Akash,

If your internet connection fails before MCT is able to finish downloading, then it may not be able resume and have to start over.

Yes, you need to have Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.

Thanks for letting me know these things. :) By the way, can I do free upgrade through the ISO available in the Microsoft's Site? As I will not able to download it ever through Media Creation Tool if it doesn't support resume.

No, I mean- can I use the ISO downloaded from that linked site? I can download from MCT but as you said it will restart the download, so it will never download due to the bad Internet stability in my city.

So, the only option left with me is downloading anything via download manager, so it can also resume. So, can you tell me if those ISOs are valid for free upgrade too?

Please do check the link I've listed in my above post.
