WMP will stay, it's WMC that walks the plank.

    Feature deprecation

    • If you have Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, or Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center and you install Windows 10, Windows Media Center will be removed.
    • Watching DVDs requires separate playback software.
    • Windows 7 desktop gadgets will be removed as part of installing Windows 10.
    • Windows 10 Home users will have updates from Windows Update automatically available.
    • Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts Games that come pre-installed on Windows 7 will be removed as part of installing the Windows 10 upgrade. Microsoft has released our version of Solitaire and Minesweeper called the “Microsoft Solitaire Collection” and “Microsoft Minesweeper.”
    • If you have a USB floppy drive, you will need to download the latest driver from Windows Update or from the manufacturer's website.
    • If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on your system, the OneDrive application is removed and replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive.

Just installed it and from what I have seen already I think I might like it - my only disappointment is no WMP and I cannot find where to let me decide what updates to install.

But I know I have just cloned a Samsung "straight" 840 to do the install and I probably didn't use the right tutorial but heck it is very fast!!

Now I just need to clean out the old w7 files.

WMP is there. Use search on start menu or go to default programs.

Shawn am doing the laptop now but used the old ISO instead of checking for the new one . But no matter what is the problem is I upgraded not wanting to lose drivers etc but it will not pair with my no name brand mouse - keeps asking for a password and not knowing what that could possibly be am stuck any ideas?

Am getting used to it now after moving around a bit and it is definitely faster even on this older laptop.

If this post comes through a few times it is because the machine keeps dropping the post randomly - something that has harassed me for more than a year even with clean installs (7)

Shawn one more thing my desktop install updated the build to the latest but the laptop is not doing this through updates - do I have to wipe the drive and start all over again?

I'd wait until after the 29th when it hits RTM to see if it may then.

    Awesome & thorough job Shawn

Have you noticed, during the Windows 10 setup, how they use purple on dark blue to "Hide" the stuff the Tin Foil Hat Brigade and other security conscious people, might really want to change?

If someone is color blind (In the United States 10 percent of men are color-blind, while only about 1 percent of women are) They're screwed. It's as bad as those installer wrappers from Download(dot)com
