Windows 10: Upgrade to Windows 10
Just a quick update..besides taking a VERY long time to 'upgrade' my Acer Aspire 5100-3357 to Windows 10, I have discovered the upgrade from Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium Edition 32 bit didn't go as expected. Upon first bootup I found my system to be as SLOW as molasses, so this morning I'm doing a 'reset this pc' procedure. If all else fails, I can always just go back to windows 7 sp1 and then do a 'clean' install. Have a GREAT day !!
I hope it goes better for you David.

I just used the "Step 4" method to upgrade my dual boot W10 Home & Linux Mint 18 laptop.
Unsurprisingly the Anniversary Upgrade broke the GRUB boot setup.
I was able to fix that issue using grub rescue.
Apart from some random Settings changes, everything else seems to be working correctly.
The Media Creation Tool (MCT) has been updated for Windows 10 Creators Update Version 1703 Build 15063.13 RTM.

Just refreshing my memory on all this. Although I'm going to clean install the CU, I'm also intrigued to try an upgrade install on my present set up and see that for doing that I should run setup.exe from the bootable media. Last upgrade install I did was when Vista came out (lol).
I'll be very interested to see how clean vs upgrade turns out. All that is for tomorrow and onward... its the wrong end of the day here
is it available to d-load now ?? i went to site and it has update now and then a download??
"Update now" is for the Windows 10 Update Assistant.
"Download tool now" is for the Media Creation Tool.
Both will get you updated to Windows 10 Creators Update though.
Thanks for the info Shawn, mounting the ISO in File Explorer was always my preferred method.
And with the specs on my work station, it took only 15 minutes after clicking setup.exe
I never did an upgrade on it yet till now, since I bought it, wow it can go fast.
I'll do my old slow laptop tomorrow, though.
I take it MIcrosoft will update the MCT with the official non-RTM version on the 11th of April?
Also, does that mean that if I install this current RTM ISO version I'd would have to clean install the official ISO after that to get out of the Insider version?
I feel that we as experts on this forum should try and persuade any novices who are not sure about upgrading to Windows 10 should help explain why its good for them to upgrade from earlier versions.
So I'll start off:

Currently running Windows 8.1 on a 20gb partition. I would like to upgrade to windows 10 when it is released.
Question is how?
I suspect 20gb isn't enough as 16gb is already taken up by win 8.1. I installed win 8.1 as a clean install then...
I fancied trying the upgrade route, really as an educational exercise to see how well it would work, but am finding its way to slow. I suspect some process is running somewhere that is crippling the install procedure.

Have been running the W10 preview since its release without problems.
Today tried upgrading to the new version without success.
In desperation I deleted the early version installed on a separate SSD thinking I could get a reinstallation using my...
