Normally you power on the computer and wait until it shut off, then move the jumper back. and power up. Some have different behavior,

But It's at startup time that the bios sense the Clear CMOS setting and launches the reset routine. Without power that cannot occur. Some more modern bioses Can even automatically flash back a backup Firmware in case of total corruption.

LMAO! Are you sure (I'm so confuzzled because it says to move the pins and wait for 2 seconds, so how would I power that on within 2 seconds lol so I figured it was just moving the pins then power it on after you put the pins back lol)?? I'm scared now if I put it back to normal! But I trust you, so if you don't hear from me, that means my pc died again

Possibly you have a Dual Bios Board and you only Flashed the Main Bios , not the Backup/Overclock Bios
so you are still seeing the Original 2nd Bios with the jumper placed differently.

    *Manual suggests (2) x 8m. Bios chips....

Right now, with the pins in the clear CMOS position, every time you start the computer the BIOS settings are being reset to default values, that's why you can't enter into your BIOS settings. Putting the jumper back in the normal position will stop the behavior of resetting all BIOS settings to default and cause the current settings to be retained when the computer is powered on and you will regain the ability to enter BIOS settings manually.
    Exactly !!!

Thank you, everyone, but omg KB is exactly right!! I put it back to normal, and no bueno. Same as before. Sadly my main bios is corrupted. Is there any other way to fix this??

I went back to the overclock bios and all is good again. So what does this mean?? Can I just use the overclock bios then for good? What are the repurcussions, if any?

I've never overclocked in my life, as I dont like messing with the bios and never really update it unless it's necessary...

My 1st guess would be that the Bios File used was not for that Motherboard even though it appeared to run correctly, I did wonder earlier why you used 1.7 when there was a 1.8 Bios in the folder someone linked to earlier . Have you not contacted XFX Support and asked for the Correct latest Bios File?

Hey thanks KB! I tried to go to the XFX support chat but they routed me to the AMD site, which was pretty useless because I don't see anything for my specific motherboard. So I got that from that sketchy site. I saw 1.8 but thought I used 1.7 since that's what I come across when I was googling that ppl have apparently successfully upgraded and worked. I was scared 1.8 might be beta or something.

I'm able to access the bios now but I guess my question now would be how do I save my overclock bios settings then? I don't "overclock" per se, but I do need to change the boot priority settings, and Everytime I do, it reverts back to the old bios settings. I'll try replacing the bios battery, but just in case you or anyone have other ideas on how to save my oc bios settings would be great!!

Did you re-try flashing the Main bios? ( reset jumper 1st) it may not be able to be reflashed now if corrupted, back in the day you needed to be VERY careful you had the right Model and even MB ver. as the Bios Writer did not check that info, it just went ahead and did it's thing.

You should be able to "load optimized Defaults" in the OC bios and restart , see if all is well, and then re-enter the (OC - good) Bios and setup things like boot order, AHCI etc as needed, and use it just like the the Main bios. My guess is the OC bios just has more settings available like Voltage and Multiplier numbers which you don't have to touch...auto should work just fine.

Yeah, I'm used to doing the bios updates, if any, via windows. This was my first time attempting to update using a rom file from a third-party, then booting it up from the USB stick which apparently you have to use DOS command line. I thought it would be like a gui interface lol! But I think it was really just a bad/incorrect file like u mentioned. Not sure how to re-flash the main bios when it goes on a power on/off loop, with no post. I have to manually turn off the computer, then switch the jumper to the overclock position to have my computer turn on and work again. Which, btw, is there a way to recover/re-flash like u mentioned/revert to the original main bios via the overclock bios?? I don't know if that made any sense 😅. Not sure if it helps, but when it did first start to work, it did say "CMOS checksum error," but it did give you that option to load optimal defaults like you mentioned, which I did, and it worked.

But looks like it's working now, thank you, I was able to save my oc bios settings (I did replace my cmos battery, but not sure if that had anything to do with it). Same deal like my earlier post, AHCI works fine in 8.1 but not Win 10. I can live with that lol! Thanks again to you and everyone here who replied!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Might be best not to play with it anymore and ask more Nvidia NForce savvy people over on WinRaid for some help with win10.....

Or get a new Computer..... go on you're worth it :)
