I tried that. Didn't help. I just get an error like "There is something wrong with your PIN" and selecting the option to reset/repair the PIN doesn't work. No other options to sign in besides PIN (e.g. password) are provided. I spent hours reading forums, trying different modes, different network configurations, different settings, and nothing worked. Has something to do with the MS Account / Windows Hello sign-in, from what I've read. I believe it's because of the Windows setting to "Require Windows Hello sign-in" is on.

I misspoke when I indicated Hyper-V requires a local account. As you say, changing to basic mode allows sign in via any account; but the problem is that the PIN won't work and can't be repaired. Note: I was trying to test my VM on the same physical machine that the VM was created from, so perhaps there was an issue with trying to run the same Windows OS simultaneously?

You must have got things tangled up. I just turn off windows hello, and never have a problem.
