Just a quick question since you haven't noted the make and model of your computer.

Have you checked the Bios setup for Harddrive idle or timeouts?
It is a Lenovo S145 notebook, but i dont see this option in Bios

(The storage option is only about turning on optane memory)

Could be some lenovo software handling power management, but I'd be very surprised if they had their own power management overwrite windows's.
The hard drive is connected via external case or still inside the laptop? Are you certain it's turning off rather than stop seeking?

I recorded the noise it makes when i open a file with the HD. It seems the HD is turning on and then after 20 sec turning off, i dont think this noise is about seeking: Voz 002_sd-1.m4a - Google Drive

The power options is already set to never, i dont know what to do anymore

Also this Lenovo notebook has some kind of power management, where it keeps the battery always at 50%. I dont know if that may be the cause of the HD turning off every 20 sec

Itīs called Lenovo Vantage, and i already tried to uninstall it. When i installed the SSD i cloned the HD to it then formated the HD, i dont know if that may also be the cause. But i have so much programs installed that formating the notebook would be a headache but i cant think in any solution besides that

    and?

no. it's something software related. if you can't uninstall the software I'd either sell this HD and buy one in an enclosure or get an enclosure

On Windows 10, open task manager > Services > Details
Right click on "ImControllerService" service to stop/disable and restart the machine.

I believe Lenovo Vantage is a Microsoft UWP app, since it is available in the Microsoft Store at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/le...e/9wzdncrfj4mv and does not show up for you in Program and Features.

The way to uninstall a Microsoft Store app is to locate it in your Start Menu, then right-click on its icon and select Uninstall from the context menu that then pops up.

I stoped all the ImControllerService, uninstalled Lenovo Vantage and it seems nothing changed, the HD still turning on and off every time

Do you think that formating my notebook could solve this issue? When i installed the SSD i didnt formate, i just cloned the HDD content to the SSD with a program
