Hello, I have installed Windows 10 Pro in UEFI mode in my SSD and I created another partition of my HD (1TB HD) of 250GB to install Windows 8.1 Pro, is it possible to install? Does it have to be in UEFI mode too?

Edit.: I created the bootable pen drive in GPT mode for UEFI, but when I go in BIOS override and select the UEFI pen drive, there is a black screen and then it returns me to the BIOS again, why is that?

    Hello ViTosS, :)

If you like, you should be able to use step 4 with the USB instead of at boot.

Ok Shawn now I have been trying 10 and getting a little more used to it - have figured out how to manipulate the panel look so that it is not so intrusive - so I thought I may as well dual boot the 7 and the 10 so that I can still access my emails in 7 for the time being and still have 10 on tap as it were.

My plan is to clone the 7 install from the 250GB SSD it is on now to an unallocated 500GB SSD then use the larger drive to install the 10 to.

I only have an ISO for 10 as I really am not that keen on USB sticks - can I install from the DVD as per the instructions and if so do I have to disable the secure and fast boot also - I think in all honesty it is already set that way. I am guessing to that I shall have to create a partition using Partition Wizard for the 10 install on the 500GB clone. I know it means setting it up all over again but I have some time off work coming soon (surgery) and it will give me something to work on.

If I have to I will make a stick to use and I am sorry if I am being a bit super cautious with my data and emails - just the nature of the beast, plus I know you have so much more on your plate now but I need to get it from the source person - not that I distrust anyone else but you have always been such help to me in the past.
    John:)

    Hey John, :)

Actually, you could install Windows 10 using just the ISO file for the dual boot if you like.

Ok so I shall do that from step 3 in the tutorial and if all goes well then I plan to dual boot this smaller work laptop. I say that because I did have problems a good while ago now with a dual boot 7 and 8 I think it was where the boot always went straight to the 8 without giving me the choice.
Thanks again for helping out your'e a brick:)

It would be using step 4B with an ISO in Windows.

Hello Shawn cut a VERY long story short I have the clone ready to go.

I have been going through the tutorial and I just want to know if I reduce the C: (7) partition on the 500GB drive with Partition Wizard to give me say 250GB unallocated space remaining when I go through the process is the 10 going to be installed to it or do I just pick the unallocated space on that drive because I am not sure?

Also because of the little extra links re the activation code and that I have installed 10 on the machine using a smaller drive before will that code if it is stored on the machine activate the dual boot?.

My last query is I have Kaspersky security on the 7 install is that going to cover or affect the 10 install?? or should I instant MSE for 10? A bit of a quandary as per two AV's on one machine.
