I did as you instructed. Shrunk the Windows 10 drive and booted Windows 7 install from USB. Selected to install on the blank space and that was it - it worked. Boot menu looked like attached photo (sorry about the quality).

Now I have to figure out how to REMOVE Windows 7 without messing up Windows 10 boot record. I followed this guide: Dual Boot - Delete a OS - Windows 7 Help Forums

However, I must have been going a little fast because I realize JUST NOW that I missed step one.

Removing Win 7 resulted in boot failure in Windows 10 so I had to re-install Windows 10.

Bottom line, however, is that you CAN dual boot Windows 10 and Windows 7 with Windows 10 installed first.

Hello Hernantojo, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

After you install Windows 7, you would use the tutorial on the first page to install Windows 10 on the other disk.

If you wanted the free Windows 10 offer, then this will not have Windows 10 activated. Instead, you would need to either upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 only, or purchase Windows 10 to have both to dual boot.

On Page 1 I see this note that says I have to do anything, I mean that if I have another disk partition formatted disk ready to install the Windows 10 there and must appear after the dual boot?

    Note

If you plan on installing Windows 10 to a separate empty hard drive, then you do not need to do anything now.

Step 1 is only if you planned on installing Windows 10 to another partition on the same drive you had Windows 7 installed on.

In your case, you wouldn't need to do step 1 since you'll be installing Windows 10 on another hard drive.

Did my message about Windows 10 activation apply to you?

    Hello Stargazer, :)

If this is a free Windows 10 that you originally upgraded from your Windows 7 Ultimate, then you will not be able to activate Windows 7 with the same key as long as Windows 10 is installed since it would violate the EULA and would eventually get both installations deactivated.

If you have another product key for Windows 7, then you could use the steps in the tutorial on the first page to dual boot with Windows 7. You would just need to install Windows 7 on another disk or partition.
