I don't, Shawn!
I had Windows 8.1 on one partition and Windows 10 TP on another. When Windows 10 launched, I upgraded the Windows 8.1 partition to Windows 10 and left the Windows 10 partition intact.
Microsoft has said that we can have both a "regular" installation of Windows 10 and a Technical Preview installation of Windows 10 which is what I plan on doing.
Not my style to "get around" the intended license terms.
In that case it's fine, since one is Insider, and the other is a legal upgrade. :)
I thought you upgraded to 10, then reinstalled 8.1 with the same key. LOL
So how about a dual boot with Vista64? I know, it's old but what the hell, it's been great. I missed the deadline for the free upgrade with Win7 (had a copy I could have used) but i bought an oem Win10 pro and I have a never used 1tb velociraptor.
In about a month I'm going to bild a new beast, but for now I just want to plop 10 on this old machine.
Can I do it? I'm formatting the new HDD now, should be done in about 4 hours lol, and I plan on using the new drive for the WIn10.
Hello DeathStalker, and welcome to Ten Forums.
Sure, you could dual boot with Vista if you like. :)
Same steps as above for Win7/8?
I also have a 120 GB SSD I just bought that I can use for the Win10, but I'm getting too many HDD's in the case already...... should I use it anyway?
It's been a long time Brink. Glad you to see you are doing well. (WAY back when Vista was new lol, and this was the VistaX64 site)
Yeah, you can install like 7.
If you don't already have a SSD to install Windows 10 on, then most definitely use the SSD. It will give you a very nice performance boost.
It's good to see you here as well, and hope you are also doing well.
