Dual Boot Windows 10 with Windows 7 or Windows 8  

Ok Navy mate I think I will try the first option as the second one seems to need more separate things to be done and to be honest I have in the past only dual booted Linux systems and it seemed so simple back then .

I am as you will have guessed a while ago no expert and I think when you said copy the 7 to the other partition it threw me a bit as I couldn't figure out how to do that in PW or through the Disk Manager.

Now if I go with option one I am assuming it will install the latest build - well in any case I can always clean this drive again and clone it form the spare 7 drive - I usually do this to prevent me from losing everything.

Ok Navy and Shawn have got it done but I have to say it was nightmare when it first installed. It refused my Microsoft account password wanted to contact me through gmail an account I wished I has never set up and the code they send you.

It is very frustrating and if it were not for my other machines to use I would be sitting here like some dummy (a tad true I suppose) so in exasperation I shut the machine down and rebooted only to find it went through the same set up only this time it let me type in what I wanted to - but I suppose I have it installed on that other partition now.

All I have now is to set up my email server though my secondary back up email account is now being blocked by Outlook.live.com - thank heavens for Thunderbird or I would be sunk.

Anyway enough of my grizzling and thanks for the time, trouble and patience you both have put in because the actual process turned out to be as simple as loading that installation stick - whereas I saw it as going round the houses

I must say I did read too much into the instructions and probably my Achilles heel too much rush not enough haste as the broken leg testifies too.

Anyway up and walking around now without too much use of the stick and getting less painful by the day.

Ok I got permission last night to use an OEM copy key to dual boot this machine after U had explained I had installed the OEM on the wrong machine.

Now I have set the partition up as stated (half the drive) and carry on until I get to setup.exe but there is no setup.exe in the listing only setup and clicking that gives me an error message see pic

Now I am only guessing here but is this stick the techie made for me supposed to be clean installed onto and empty drive?? as I know she checked the key and my machine for something.

and perhaps I can add the 7 later for the dual boot??

Edit Soory the pic will not attach but says something along the lines of a side by side configuration??

If you like, you could see if you may be able to boot from the USB to start Windows Setup, and select to install to the partition you have set up.

Ok mate I will set the BIOS to that - just what about the secure boot should I disable that first please??

Yes, you would also want to disable secure boot until you have finished installing Windows 10.

Unless supported by the motherboard, you usually won't be able to boot from the USB with secure boot enabled.

Ok mate will do and I have disabled the AV too like Christina said to last night when she was working things around and funny thing was she whipped out CCleaner and MBAM too LOL!!
