I'm trying to repair a corrupted Windows 10 on a secondary drive (O: I dual boot).
Am I right in assuming W10 no longer allows a repair install from my main OS C: across drives?
I would need to do instead an in-place upgrade whilst booted to O:? (It still boots up OK.)

Hello Peter,

You will still be able to do a repair install of Windows 10 from within Windows 10 in a dual boot setup if wanted.

hi, any help appreciated 2 questions, 2 separate pcs.

1.) I want to install windows 7 on D; partition , with 10 already installed on C; partition, dell optiplex 7040 desktop.
I want to dual boot so need to install as a bootable drive.
do i need to do anything specific , I've never done this before , or just install to d: drive ?

2.) I installed windows 7 on my new pc on c: drive, Thanks to you guys.
its a Lenovo - IdeaCentre 5i Desktop - Intel Core i5 .
can I and how would I use my system image to put 10 on D: instead of back on C; I want to be able dual boot that also,
So is it possible to change win 10 system image to put on drive D;

Any help really appreciated

Hi,

There are many ways to do it, If you want to have Windows 7 running natively, I would suggest to use Virtual disks.

This way you can boot your installation Directly and also in a VM.

It's up to you to decide which is your main OS and Which is the secondary... at the moment I have Both.. I can boot a virtual windows 7 on w10 or Boot a virtual Windows 10 on W7.

You can also put both of them in two separated Virtual disks on the same Drive and boot both separately.

Installing Windows 7 on the other Partition Will replace the current W10 boot entries in your boot manager. Get your current configuration before, so it will be easy to add it back after, If you are not used to BCDEDIT, You can check out tools like BootIce and learn how to add boot entries before taking the jump.
