So far so good! What a relief to not have to go into the registry myself :) So good to have you guys here to help with these things. Can't thank you enough.

We may approach you with another, even bigger, annoyance, if that's okay.

    You da man,

Hi guys. I don't have ExtendedUIHoverTime (I did a registry search as well). Might this be due to my Win10 being LTSC? I'd love to be able to get rid of the previews... Thanks for any help or advice.
(I've attached an image which shows in my 'Preview Post' but I don't see it in the actual post. Odd...)

Ignore me - just seen how you can create the DWORD yourself.

    Greetings,

I got the "hoover" option to work. However, it changes more than the focus to the window under the mouse cursor.
It also brings that windows to the front.

I would like to be able to have the mouse give a window the focus, but I do not want that window to be brought forward.
Even if the window is partially blocked, as long as the mouse is over an exposed part of the window, I want that window to get the focus, and I want that window to remain behind whatever other windows are in front of it.

I did this in Windows 7, a long time ago. But I cannot find the solution now.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Seymour, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Usually, as along as you keep the mouse pointer over the icon and not the taskbar thumbnail preview, you will not see the thumbnail live preview (window) which time can also be adjusted below.

I can't get thumbnails to show, even if I hover for many seconds.
    See screenshot.

    Hello,

As a test, delete the ExtendedUIHoverTime DWORD, and restart the computer to see if your taskbar thumbnails will show afterwards.

    Still no good.
Maybe I should try to override whatever messed up settings I have, by using GPO?

You could try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened to undo it.
