Cliff, sorry to be so PITA but a few more questions:
    • How much RAM on your host?
    • How much free space your F: disk has, the disk where you store the VHDs?
    • Does the VHD folder only have one VHD or VHDX file for your vm, or does it also have an .avhdx file?
    • The virtual machines folder, does it contain any other file types for your vm than VM_ID.vmcx and VM_ID.vmrs? It should only have one folder and these two files for each vm just created.
    • On host, does Network and Sharing Center show it is using the vEthernet adapter (external switch):

OK, everything should be OK. Next step is to stop and restart the service. First stop the service, right pane of the Hyper-V Manager:

    Accept by clicking Turn off:

    Reboot, start the service:

    Try to start the vm.

It didn't work. I tried with reboot, and once with out(just restarted).

You don't happen to have a working VM(non windows of course, unless it's not activated) I might try importing(I see there is an option for that) to see if it is my system somehow?

In event viewer the problem looks like the VM time outs are causing it not to start.

Cliff, let's check the permissions once again. That Ubuntu vm, go to properties of its VHDX file and grant Everyone full permissions to that file. Do the same with UBUNTU_VM_ID folder and both UBUNTU_VM_ID.vmcx and UBUNTU_VM_ID.vmrs files in Virtual Machines folder.

    Try to run the vm.

Kari all 3 look like this: Hyper-V virtualization - Setup and Use in Windows 10-image-002.png
Is this how they should be set? or does it need Special Permissions too? I could try using "take ownership" right click if you think that will help...

We lose nothing if we try. Take ownership of all four items, the VHDX file, the config folder plus the vmcx and vmrs files.

In the mean time I upload my Ubuntu vm's VHDX file for you to test importing, I created it yesterday for screenshots and it works perfectly. it's over 4 GB so it will take some time, especially as I am currently backing up my Windows 10 TH2 1511 ISO images to OneDrive.
