No. My laptop came with Windows 10 so of course I have no installation media. I went to Recovery in Settings & got to the Command Prompt from there. I entered the proper values, hit the X & returned to restart Windows. Did I do something wrong?
Did you get an "in use" type error message? If so, then it wasn't a true command prompt at boot.
If you like, you could create a Windows 10 installation USB or recovery drive to boot from to open a command prompt at boot to delete the Window.old folder from.

I did not get a message at all either time I used the Command Prompt at boot. Now I do get a ftle in use message when I try to delete it directly from File Explorer. I already have a recovery drive. So i just boot from that & take the same steps I did before? I'll try that. Wish me luck! Thank you.
The contents of Windows.old folder can still be removed via Disk Cleanup, CCleaner and selecting the appropriate task or by runningAfter the August 2016 Anniversary update I was being given "Access Denied" in CMD:Code:RD /S /Q %SystemDrive%\Windows.old
The reason the folder itself is left behind is due to 2 files being locked by system files. Stopping the process WUDFHost.exe and processes/services associated with it will free up the process for an entire folder deletion. In my case there were oddly 2 instances of WUDFHost.exe running, stopping one instance fixed the Access Denied issue.

I have installed windows as a clean install on the same SSD
But I did find something that was around 5gb and got rid of it
and also Im surprised option 2 and 3 did not work ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, But option 1 did

Tried everything keep getting

C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\IntcDAud.sys - Access is denied.
C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVER~1\FILERE~1\INTCDA~1.INF\IntcDAud.sys - Access is denied.
These two files are locked by the Intel Display Audio Driver. I had the same problem with these 2 files again today (after every upgrade actually). As suggested by @RobertR in post #93 I first disabled the driver...
To do this go to Device manager, right click and select disable:
Then take ownership of Windows.old, grant yourself authority and delete. There are various ways but see here for example Take Ownership - Add to Context Menu in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
Empty the recycle bin and then go back into device manager and enable it again (as before by right clicking on it).
Alternatively you can boot into safe mode (then the driver will not start) and then take ownership and delete but his way is easier I think.
At least for me :)
