Hey Mike, :)
Nope. The Windows10Upgrade folder is only created when you install the Windows 10 Update Assistant to update to the latest version of Windows 10.

Hi,
Thanks I had a suspicion that is where it came from
Wasn't sure how to get rid of it though thanks smarty pants
Cheers.
I also am enjoying another event of not being able to get rid of WIndows.old. Trying to manually delete it, it says "Could not find this item. This is no longer located in C:\. Verify the items location and try again" ...Also, trying the RD /S /Q %SystemDrive%windows.old ... I get this message, "The system cannot find the file specified."
Yet it is still showing in the File Explorer as Windows.old.
(I have just uninstalled the Upgrade Assistant after rebooting and this did nothing either as to removing the Windows.old file)
To be honest, I'm half afraid to to keep at this, for a couple years back, after removing this Windows.old, my compute wouldn't reboot. Please let me know what I should do other than leaving it alone, although again, back a couple years back, even after 30 days, the Windows.old Folder did not disappear.
I'm just on my way out to work Brink and haven't even tried 4 & 5 yet. Tell me by trying them, it isn't going hurt the computer. I'm paranoid about doing something with these solutions and then the computer not rebooting. I had that joy once & it's scarred me for life!??!
I'll get at 4 & 5 when I get back home later today. Thanks for the quick reply.
Quickly, permit me to say I have so tried deleting from the System / Storage. It said after I did that, I had gotten an extra 9 Gigs of space on my SSD. But the fact that the Windows.old is still there (and with stuff in them) something didn't go right. I'll look for your furthered assistance when I get back in. Thanks!
It sounds like you successfully deleted the contents of the Windows.old folder for the previous version of Windows.
What little is left in the folder is not really worth worry about. If you still want to delete it, then option 3 should be able to.
Right now, I have followed (I think) the instructions in Option 3. Presently, I have before me in the Command Promp, the following ...
"RD / S /Q "C:\Windows.old" ...
This is where I'm a bit confused ... do I just hit the enter button on this to rid the Windows.old? I'm reading right after that instruction put in the Command Prompt, the following ... B) Close the command prompt AND then after that a picture of Choose an option ... that's the part that scares me. I'm not following and I say it scares me a bit because I don't want to get to that blue screen where it's telling me .... Continue / Troubleshoot / Turn off your PC.
The reason I'm saying this is because this is where I got a couple years back and the computer would not reboot. Please advise, say it simple!!!
