Hi Brink, my upgrade was done just over 10 days ago, last night I thought I was all of the sudden going to notice disk cleanup doing its thing in the background but never happened. The folder is still around. :)

Is the folder smaller in size now?

No, same size as it has been since the upgrade, about 19.7GB.

It should get cleared whenever it runs automatic maintenance next. Otherwise, you could manually delete it using Option 4 or 5.

I like that Option 4 and probably will use it if Windows forgets to delete the folder. Let me ask you, using the laptop cancels, postpones automatic maintenance or takes place regardless?

Nar, the laptop just needs to be running when its scheduled to run automatic maintenance next. You can still use it while it's working in the background.

Personally, I prefer to just delete it myself if not needed.

Thanks for the links, I ll surely read them. I ll wait 16 days from the date of the upgrade and see what happens. I ll come back and post after the folder is deleted automatically or via Option 4. I seen the maintenance tools working behind the scene in Task manager, but now that I want them, they go to sleep :).

    Greetings

Hi brink, I didn't wait :). I used Option 4, it worked out fast and flawless. It got rid of the folder and contents as well as the Option to Recover to the old version in Settings and nothing appears anymore regarding the old version in Settings/System/Storage. Thanks a lot for this tutorial.

Thanks to Saltgrass also for bringing up this way of getting rid of the windows.old folder.

What about the Windows10Upgrade folder, program, uninstall it via Control panel or leave it alone?

    Great news Bo. :)

Sure you could manually delete the "Windows10Upgrade" folder if you like.
