Yes being at a resolution of 4K (3840 X 2160) is the issue here and why the usual settings didn't work especially scaled to 350-400%
(4 x normal size) , so thanks for clearing that up for Others in the future.

The App in Post #104 may not have helped in this situation either , I use it at 125% scaling , The Advanced version also does many of the Other Windows "Metrics" as they are called like Scroll Bars and Menus Text Size etc , just like Shaun's Other Tutorials on these things. If you look at the Pic above there is also a Default Button to return everything to Normal , click it , then Change and reboot.

    Hi Shawn,

Today while using a tool I have had for a long time I noticed a discrepancy in the reg files in Option 2.

The tool shows the offset from the default of 9 which should be zero:

I ran reg file 10 and then ran this tool. The offset should be 1 and it is:

I ran reg file 11 and then ran this tool. The offset should be 2 but it is 3:

It appears that your reg file 11 increased the size two steps instead of one. Reg file 12 increases the offset to four instead of three. That is all that I checked. You might want to have a look at the reg files. Something just does not seem right especially the size increase between reg files 10 and 11.

    Hello Michael @tracit99, :)

What is your screen resolution and DPI currently set at?

This will have an affect on the offset.

    Hey Shawn,

I suspected that there was more to this than I originally thought. My resolution is 1600 x 900. I don't know how to find the DPI. In display settings my scaling is setting to 100% and my display is 17.3 inches if that is of any help. Silly me thinking the offset would change by one with each reg file increase. As it turns out I prefer an offset of 2 which apparently cannot be done using the reg file. It really is not a problem or issue per se. I am just trying to better understand what is going on here.

No problem. It is a complicated mess to try and make it universal.

Just out of curiosity where can I find the DPI number in Windows 10? I have read that the Windows default is 96 but where would I see that setting? I remember in Windows 7 I could actually see the DPI value.

The percentage for DPI is fine. You would have to look at the registry value for this now to see the actual DPI for the percentage.

Thank you Shawn. Windows has a DPI value and my laptop display has a DPI value and all these terms have different meanings when discussing cameras and printers. It is all perfectly clear to me now, I think. Well maybe. You are right it is complicated.

Windows 10 just performed an update and wiped out my bold fonts and text size. I went back into downloads and reopened up the registry file I used to make the changes and it said "these changes have been to the registry" or something to that effect. But my fonts are still small and non bold. Do you have to restart the computer for the changes to actually take effect?

You should only need to sign out and in to apply the registry changes. :)
