I see now that (part of) the hidden folder C:\Users\Bénoît\AppData remained on C:\
I do not know if that gives a new light to how this happened.

No, that's as it should be. In some cases, especially after an upgrade install, also the original Users folder on C: drive is there. It will always remain really small, only containing some AppData from programs that can't migrate that data to another drive. In my case I have hidden the folder; it's there. meaningless small taking no storage space and does not disturb me or the functionality of Windows.
I think I will do everything all over again:
What about this order?
1. Boot from recovery station to reach factory status Win8.1.
2. Upgrade install to Win10 (not clean because I want some off the factory deliverd apps) until settings dialog
3. Boot into audit mode with CRTL+SHIFT+F3
4. Edit registry to allow sysprep to run after upgrade: in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup delete both the DWORD Upgrade (right pane) and KEY Upgrade && in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\SysprepStatus set 7 to DWORD CleanupState and/or DWORD GeneralizationState; run slmgr /dli in elevated command prompt
5. mount win10 source, check relocate.xml for drive
6. net stop wmpnetworksvc
7. run sysprep: %windir%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /reboot /unattend:[DRIVE]:\relocate.xml
would that be correct or am I wrongly mixing up different procedures (i.e clean install, upgrade install & running sysprep after upgrade?)

Same thing happened to me. I followed Kari's procedure and everything worked perfectly. About a day later, the start menu would not respond to right click. Left click still worked. I created new users on the same machine and the start menu worked perfectly. There are dozens of threads out there on this problem. While there are a variety of methods that fix this for some, none of the dozen or so methods worked for me. I reverted back to windows-7. Some of the solutions include using a Microsoft Account instead of a local account, removing all anti-virus software, using powershell script to restore it, creating new users and moving over to the new user (just does it again later), doing a system restore, doing a fresh install. It could be a virus remnant caused this although all the malware and anti virus I have ran clean. Just seems to me Windows-10 is not ready for prime time if there is no decent way to recover the start menu if it breaks.
hello. i followed this procedure on upgraded win 10 edu x64 and now i cant boot into windows, got stuck in a loop "hi there - regional settings + etc , reboot and all over again". can you help me please?
That means, to put it simple, that you have done something wrong. The reboot loop is always a user error. You have either wrong drive letters assigned, invalid install media, wrong or missing CPI source in the answer file or some other user caused error.
Reinstall or restore a system image and try again, or if you feel you have done everything correctly just forget this procedure. I can guarantee that when done correctly it works.
If you try to do this again, please let me know as much as possible about your setup. To which drive you would like to relocate the users, what and from where is the install media you use and so on.
