    Ya - what I typed is from Method One. But I did try the Creators Version video first. Several times.. LOL
    And the result was the same. I had given up on the Creators Version video, as Method One has worked for me (several times) in the past.

    I also did what you suggested and pulling the network cable to get it to 'Pause' at the same point as in the video. I also tried starting sysprep at the Region Selection Screen as well.

    Maybe I will give the video method one more chance. I originally had an older unattend file that specified the location of install.wim (I see in the newer versions that is no longer needed). However, I don't think that makes a difference. Also, I suppose it might be possible I didn't launch command prompt with admin rights. I never had to worry or do anything special for that before, it just worked, so I never paid attention. (When I returned to Method One, and it still didn't work, I paid attention to the elevated cmd prompt and had updated my unattend file to match the latest contents in the tutorial.)

    Also, in the video I could not follow what he was doing or saying in regards to creating the user account. Was any of that important or just something he was doing for his particular use (domain)?

    Heck - I am almost tempted to reinstall a previous version of Windows to make sure I can still get that to work. (I've previously got this to work, on this same machine, several times in the past.)

    Also, on the Creators Version video.. He states the answer file should be on a USB stick. Does it really have to be on a USB stick? I have it on my E: drive (where the user profile folder should be created).

    I think that was just to show that if you were installing Pro you had extra options to create a local account.

    Sorry I can't help more. Just for interest, could you post up the relocate.xml file that you are using. Not saying you are doing anything wrong, just for checking :)

    No, it doesn't. What he says is that you copy it from a USB stick onto the partition you want your users folder on. I got round that by letting the initial OEM installation run, then creating and saving it on the D: drive before running the installation from the DVD. I didn't touch Drive 1 in the partitioning part of the installation, just drive 0, which was the SSD drive.

    Guys, some notes about recent posts:

    - Answer file can be saved anywhere where Sysprep finds it and can have any name as long as extension is XML. If you save it to C:\MyAnswerFiles\MoveUsersFolder.xml, you just point to that location in Sysprep command:
    Sysprep.exe /oobe /reboot /unattend:C:\MyAnswerFiles\MoveUsersFolder.xml

    - If no errors are given, Sysprep finalizes the installation and yet the Users folder is still located on C: drive, it is always without an exception either because of wrong target drive assignment (for instance answer file says D:\Users but Sysprep finds out there is no partition D:), or a typo in answer file like wrong processor architecture (for instance adm64 on 32 bit Windows or x86 on 64 bit)

    - Users folder can only be relocated to a partition on internal NTFS formatted SSD or HDD. It cannot be relocated to USB drives, memory cards and other removable drives.

    - Network does not have to be disconnected when installing. Simply press CTRL + SHIFT + F3 when installation stops at region selection to restart in Audit Mode

    - Method Two: Never proceed on existing Windows installation before making a complete system image!

    - Once again I repeat the warning in tutorial, beginning of Method Two:
    warning   Warning
    Do not proceed before creating a system image!

    Sysprepping an existing installation with an OEM pre-installed Windows is risky. Manufacturers might have their own unattended answer files in place which ignore your custom unattended files. Anything can go wrong when sysprepping an existing installation, I do not recommend doing this.

    If you decide to try it and it fails and you post about it, I will remind you about this warning asking you to restore the system image you made before proceeding.

    Short: Relocating Users folder with Sysprep should only be done on new, clean installs! Trying this Method Two, relocating Users on an existing installation might force you to do a complete reinstall or restore your PC to factory state.

    - If your existing installation is a clean install you have made from an original Microsoft install media, Method Two works every time when done correctly, reason being that in that case there will be no OEM settings and / or files affecting Sysprep and your answer file.

    - If your existing Windows installation is an OEM pre-installed version, or from OEM (PC manufacturer) recovery disks or partition, I very strongly recommend you to forget this method to relocate Users folder.

    Son-of-a... Why does Microsoft even offer the 32bit version anymore!!!! uggg

    Apparently somehow I downloaded a 32bit version of Windows 10 PRO. Never even realized it! Thus my processor architecture was set to amd64..

    That must be my problem.. Plus I want 64bit Windows 10 Pro anyways... So now I am off to download a new ISO.. uggg

    Yup - now that I downloaded the correct ISO from MSDN, it works like a charm!

    It would of been nice for Microsoft to indicate 32bit/64bit version somewhere during the installation. I had no clue I had downloaded the wrong ISO until I checked Control Panel->System.

    Thx!

    Having trouble moving profiles on fully installed creators version.

    Hi I tried to move the uses files using the instructions in Windows 10 - Relocate the Users folder Part 2 - YouTube but not deleting the current users. It partly worked. There is no right mouse click on the Windows icon. Win + X does not work. There is no File manager icon. Typing anything into the search box goes away on the second letter typed. Any Idea what I did wrong. It did move the users to my drive D: This is on Win10 Pro X64 creators Version. The full Creators version was installed first, as when I tried to move the files during it's install, I wind up with the same results, so I was hoping moving a full install would work. I was working with a clean install of Creators Version Pro X64. You state above it works every time, but it did not for me. I should have been named murphy.

    More Info:
    I right clicked on Windows Icon, I could only select Windows Power Shell (Admin), Which I did.
    I then typed "CMD" to get into cmd instead of powershell.
    I created the Administrator account and signed in to it.
    I again went into powershell (admin) and typed Cmd
    Now the directory shown is c:\Users\Administrator
    I use cd \ to get to C:\
    I use cd \windows to get to c:\windows
    I use cd \system32 to get to c:\windows\system32
    I already have the relocate.xml file on my drive D: root. See attachment
    I use CD sysprep which puts the directory at C:\windows\system32\sysprep
    I then type "sysprep /oobe /reboot /unattend:\relocate.xml
    The system starts moving the files, but when it finishes, I cannot right click on windows icon to see any of the command functions. Win +E does not work. There is no File Explorer icon either.
    So is my attached answer file wrong?

    Here is the contents of the answer file that I used on 3 previous computers, but not Creators Version Windows that worked fine.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend">
    <settings pass="oobeSystem">
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <FolderLocations>
    <ProfilesDirectory>D:Users</ProfilesDirectory>
    </FolderLocations>
    </component>
    </settings>
    </unattend>
