I'm trying to perform a clean install with UEFI however when my SDD is completely unallocated and I create a new partition it just creates 2 partition not 4 like explained in the tutorial.

Do I need to use Windows 10 on a bootable USB stick or can I use the DVD created from the ISO downloaded with the Migration Tool?

    Hello n0mad,

You would need to use a USB for UEFI. :)

Awesome, thanks Brink. I'd like to ask you if you can suggest me a proper USB PenDrive or a random/common one is enough?

Any cheap 4GB USB should do. :)

There are a few brands I could caution about since they don't seem to work on non ac powered usb hubs at all. Two brands that seem to work on usb only or with ac adapters are Kingston or Kingston Hyper X(may cost more) and San Disk. 4gb or 8gb will suffice for the 32bit or 64bit only download but there is a combination option for both that requires a 16gb flash in order to see the combo iso download properly written to flash drive. I recommend simply choosing one or the other and go with a smaller drive.

Thanks for the welcome Night Hawk. I've been a member of the Seven & Eight forums for years too. These three forums have been the best resources for Windows help that I've ever found.

Welcome Aboard TF! NEURO2015 I had inquired and was told that you would be able to perform a clean install but not the specifics that some suggest is the need to upgrade first and let the upgrade be activated before attempting a clean install afterwards? That wasn't part of any guide like this one however.

As for the 8 Core edition if it doesn't say Pro on it you will see the 10 Home edition run for you. For those running 7 with SP1 required you may have to make a few attempts even when following the guide here closely. W10 can be a little fussy it seems at times as I have been finding.

You're welcome there! NEURO2015 I have been around since the VistaForums days another one of the forums and couldn't agree with that. Shawn and others were going great work on guides back then as well as what you find now!

With 10 out now and Vista losing support next year we'll have to see if MS plans to extend that any. In the meantime those who preferred not to upgrade to 7 or simply went back to Vista are still pretty much active there. W10 brings in a whole new ball game however on how MS will be managing Windows from now on.

I did just now confirm the upgrade install was activated when going through Start>Setttings>Security & Updates how you find the settings for how 10 receives things and am now able to wipe the 10 drive if needed for a nice clean install. Since 7 saw a pair of clean installs in prep for the upgrade I would now have to decide on whether or not to see 7 still running on a separate drive added in as a dual boot which would bring me to another one of the guides here! Otherwise I generally recommend a clean install and the steps in the guide here to see working results.

Didn't want to wait for the notification, so I forced the Win10 upgrade on to my Core i5 laptop & tablet early this morning using the Media Creation Tool. Install was going smooth until WiFi & WiDi driver conflicts caused it to abort. Disabled wireless and hardwired it to the Internet and the second attempt upgraded smoothly.

Everything's intact and running great. Since using the previews for the past year, I've been confident that Win10 would be a homerun. She is. As much as I like Win8.1, Win10 just crushes her.

Now I have to bite the bullet for the other machines. Still want to keep a Win8.1 machine for various testing & other purposes...but not really seeing the point now.
