No you were not imagining things, There where messages in the old days DOS, all windows prior to 2K I think XP too, but they removed them at some point between XP and 8 probably thinking that it has become common knowledge.
If you booted from the boot menu and your destination drive is the Primary boot device in EFI Windows will continue setup without removing the source drive.
Don't set USB as the first boot device. Use a Fn or Esc key to bring up the Boot menu where you can choose what device to boot from, then you won't have the USB boot loop.

Ah... This must be it. I set my bios to boot USB as the 1st device. No wonder.
ok guys n gals going to do a clean install on a friends machine, this machine started out as 8.1 and later upgraded to 10 back in the day.
i'm going to use the 21H2 bootable ISO to accomplish this but just want to be sure i can do this install bypassing the 8.1 version, i assume this wont be an issue as it already has 10 on it but wanted to double check.
thanks
Rob
Hello,
First time poster here. I'm getting ready to upgrade from 8.1 Pro to 10 Pro, so I'm wondering if there's a general rule of thumb as far as what order I should install the manufacturer's drivers at the end.
Does anybody know?
Thank you
