The DVD/USB device has to be removed as long as it has been set as the first boot device.

I Never change the Boot Order, I just use the Boot Menu [ F12 on Boot or whatever ] and select the Installation Media Drive.

    Hello @Brink ,

There was a question on another thread about when to Remove the Installation Media, either DVD or USB. Do you think it would be a good addition to add this stage to the Tutorial?

After the Installing Windows Updates process has Finished and when the Restarting message appears, just open the DVD Tray [ or Remove the USB - Extra option just in case ]. This will prevent starting the whole Install process again loop.

    Hello Paul,

Technically, the installation is finished at step 17/18, so the installation media could be remove at this point the earliest.

I usually just end up removing it at step 29 when fully done with setup.

I'd say just wait until your finished, then remove it.

On older laptops where there's no temporary boot options and I have to change the boot order in bios then if I don't remove the installation media at step 16, second image with timed countdown restart showing, then it will reboot to the beginning of the installation and continue again.

Yes, that was what I was trying to explain, but you have explained it far better than I have, thanks.

That's the main reason why I don't recommend or include to change the boot order if able to avoid that issue.

Luckily, most devices allow you to select a boot device (ex: USB) without having to change the boot order.

I really don't want to include that in the tutorial since it could cause confusion over something that very few would have an issue with, and should know about it if they know how to change the boot order.

That's fair enough, thanks for the explanation.

If i will delete all the partitons, especially the OEM reserved, i'll loose all the logos and important stuff from PC manufacturer? Maybe it could be better just resetting Windows thru "Repair your computer" and using as image the iso from bootable usb?

My OEM partition is about 1GB. I also have a Recover partiton that was made by manufacturer, and i have entirely copied it to my external hard drive. But of course this OEM partition it's not accessible in any conventional way.

    Hello,

If you want to keep all the OEM stuff, then you would want to do a factory recovery via reset Windows.
