Clean Install Windows 10  

Another working tutorial no less! Once I see a good upgrade install here I plan to be putting a clean install for sure. :)

If you are running either the 8.1 Home version you would select 10 Home for the US while other places may see the 10 Home N selection made. For the 8.1 Pro edition being upgraded you would then select the 10 Pro edition. Then it is Windows 8.1 aka Core, which upgrades itself to Home edition.

Upon re-examing some of the things that were not going well not for 10 but with trying to upgrade from a fresh install of 7 on a second OS drive for the planned dual boot a few things in the guide here applied to 7 as well! When forgetting to move the sata data cable over from Sata II HD 1 to Sata II HD 2 the fresh 7 install's mbr ended on Sata 3 HD 2! being the second of a pair of storage drives noticed when having unplugged the host drive the boot was a no go into the second for the intended upgrade to 10 there.

Upon unplugging those two drives for a second clean install of 7 when the Startup repair tool won't write the mbr fresh which was what was needed the pleasant surprise of seeing the 10 setup not hanging up just past the start up logo screen and complete the upgrade! Thought this should be mentioned here in case someone else is planning to see 10 go onto a second hard drive! When planning a clean install of the previous to insure a good upgrade the removal of the non OS drives as well as the first drive for the previous version all need to be unplugged to see working results!

Welcome Aboard TF! NEURO2015 I had inquired and was told that you would be able to perform a clean install but not the specifics that some suggest is the need to upgrade first and let the upgrade be activated before attempting a clean install afterwards? That wasn't part of any guide like this one however.

As for the 8 Core edition if it doesn't say Pro on it you will see the 10 Home edition run for you. For those running 7 with SP1 required you may have to make a few attempts even when following the guide here closely. W10 can be a little fussy it seems at times as I have been finding.
