Just so there's no misunderstanding, MiniTool is NOT backup software. It is a partition manager, like Disk Management, but on steroids. Show you all of what is there and allows lots of partition management. NOT backup software.
The part I highlighted in your reply is interesting. Hope that's not causing issues here, also.
Why not switch to a better backup program highly recommended by many here, Macrium Reflect Premium or Free?
I used Ghost for many, many years - both at home and at work. I retired several years ago and, along the way, tried Acronis True Image. Like you, I too found it confusing (and bloated... both the product and the backed-up disk images it created). I also tried several other similar programs (Aomei Backupper, Redo Backup and Recovery, Clonezilla) before trying Macrium Reflect Free.
I doubt I'll ever go back to any of the other products now, even though I sometimes miss the ability to script backups. IMO Macrium Reflect Free has a very easy learning curve, excellent documentation and is wonderfully simple, both in GUI design and operation. I've now been using the free version since Feb 2016 with not a single issue, either backing up or restoring many, many diffent makes and models of PCs and laptops.
Hope this helps... from another old dog.

I've gone the Ghost, Acronis, Aomei, Macrium route too. I've been using Macrium Reflect Home for 4+ years now and it has never failed me. Easy to use, has some additional capabilities, including a Fix boot problems tool.
Lots of old dogs here, lots of old dogs using and swearing by Macrium. Join the pack! Woof!

Woof! Woof!
I liked Ghost, used it personally and professionally for many years. Then when the free upgrade to 10 was about to be launched (and my Ghost was too old to work any more) I started using Backup & Restore system images. Although temperamental and unreliable (the MS offering, not me ) I learned to get it to work reliably.
It was such a breath of fresh air when I tried Macrium Reflect Free that I'm never going back...
Update:
Starting with Windows 10 build 18309, based on feedback, if you clean install Pro, Enterprise, or Education editions of Windows 10, the Cortana voice-over will be disabled by default. Screen reader users can still choose to start Narrator at any time by pressing WIN + Ctrl + Enter.
