I did get my free copy of Windows 10 Pro and was liking it for the first day. I have had a few ppl tell me to do a clean install and it will run lots better, so me being me, did everything that I was told to by download the Creation Tool making a bootable USB of my windows 10 Pro (AFTER INSTALLING VIA FREE UPGRADE) AND NOW....windows will not activate. Its shows Windows 10 Home not activated, Error Code 0xC004C003.....some of the threads say it may take a few days before it will update again.....OMG REALLY?.....CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?

Thanks Alot for the confirmation Brink! I very much appreciate it!
One last thing though, what if I haven't activated Windows 10 first and I just want to test Windows 10 out and install it as trial, Will the same condition apply that I just click on "skip" for entering the product key. and then I just would need to select the edition of Windows 10 I want to install as trial?

    And also lastly (truly
) do you know if this en_windows_10_multiple_editions_x64_dvd_6846432.iso with SHA1: 60CCE9E9C6557335B4F7B18D02CFE2B438A8B3E2 from msdn is the Windows 10 RTM build 10240?
Yep, it's the same conditions to click on Skip when you have a free Windows 10 offer activation situation. I have already updated the tutorial for this to help.

Yes, that ISO from MSDN is RTM. It's the same one I used. :)

Hello N3CDX, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you did not first upgrade to the free Windows 10 from within your activated Windows 7 PC, then Windows 10 will not activate since the PC is not registered with the activation of 10.

You may need to do a clean install and activate Windows 7, then upgrade to Windows 10 to activate 10.

If you like, you can see if you may be able to go back to Windows 7 instead though, and make sure 7 is activated before upgrading to 10.

Hello Brink, Yes I did do the free upgrade first. Had the Windows 10 Pro and was running good. I left everything alone for the first day. Then I decided to do the clean install thing using the media creation tool I made a bootable USB of my Windows 10 Pro. I then went step by step to do that clean install.....now....windows will not activate......

    N3CDX,

If you skipped entering a product key during installation like you should, then give it a few days to see if it may activate afterwards. Microsoft activation servers have been under heavy load, and may not have been able to activate at the time.

@N3CDX I think I've read somewhere about the same problem you're having (though I'm not sure about the error code) and I think what they said that you just keep on trying to activate it and it will eventually get through and be activated. If I'm not mistaken, I think they said it's due to the heavy traffic in MS' server that's causing this problem.

Ok Brink, I do remember reading that somewhere. This is just so upsetting. they say do the free upgrade first so that windows activates with your system then download the media creation tool make a bootable USB then reboot pc and boot from USB. which I have done step by step and it still will not activate. I keep checking for updates and nothing. maybe I should of just left everything alone....

It could just be busy activation servers. Hopefully, it'll activate in within a few days.

    Brink,
Is the installation media/installer that is for both 32-bit and 64-bit created from the Media Creation Tool, also UEFI bootable?

Also, I've read from a few pages back that you said that the DVD installer of Windows 10 does not support install in UEFI mode, may I ask why is that? I mean should'nt it be UEFI bootable as well (provided that you make the correct settings in the UEFI firmware settings) because the Win10 ISO now contains the proper bootloader for UEFI (unlike in Windows 7)?

All in all, thanks for everything Brink, you're the best!:)
