I'm using Kaspersky anti-virus so Defender is turned off. Does this mod enable on demand scanning of files by Defender when another antivirus like Kaspersky is used by default?

    Hello Steve,

I'm afraid that Windows Defender will need to be turned on for the context menu to work.

Remove_Scan_with_Windows_Defender-UI.reg works just like it was made for the job.

I wonder if something changed in 1903 that would impact the add or remove reg files.

I have some devices where the context menu goes away after applying remove, but then reappears after rebooting.

On other devices, I want to bring back the context menu, yet I cannot get it to reappear?! Applying add does not bring it back...

    Hello Mike,

I'll look into it now for any possible changes.

Do you have a 3rd party AV program installed, that could have removed it?

The above setting plays a part in whether or not the context menu is showing on my main machine.

If I turn on the setting and apply the add reg file. The context menu shows.

If I turn off the setting, the context menu disappears without the need to apply the remove reg file.

I cannot immediately get to the devices that had the context menu reappear on reboot, I must check that setting and turn it off if needed.

It's strange though, even if I turn off periodic scanning, I might still want to do an on-demand scan via the context menu... If I turn on the setting, a bunch of other options also appear. It seems it functions as a bit of an on/off switch for a bunch of things.

Edit: Hi Brink, I use Kaspersky Internet Security, which is being recognized by Windows Security. It was turned on throughout above tests.

I see the same with Periodic scanning turned on, but the context menu will not actually work. It'll give the page not found error below since Real-time protection is still disabled by having a 3rd party AV installed.

LOL, I'm getting the same, didn't think to actually try it.

Okay, well, then everything it probably as it is supposed to be. Will check the other devices in about four weeks time and report back.
