How to Turn On or Off Start Mixed Reality Portal when Plug In Headset in Windows 10

Windows Mixed Reality blends real-world and virtual content into hybrid environments where physical and digital objects coexist and interact.

Mixed Reality Portal is the desktop app that takes you through Windows Mixed Reality setup. It also serves as the command center on your PC for your mixed reality experience.

Windows can automatically start Mixed Reality Portal when you plug in or put on your headset. Mixed Reality Portal always starts when you open an app designed for mixed reality.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off automatically start Mixed Reality Portal when you plug in a headset for your account in Windows 10.

This Start Mixed Reality Portal whenever I plug a headset into this PC setting is currently only available to Windows Insider builds.

Windows Mixed Reality is deprecated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. This deprecation includes the Mixed Reality Portal app, and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR and Steam VR Beta.

    Hi Shawn,

Will this option be available in Windows 10? Or will it be in Windows 11? Do you have a link on the insider blog about this option? Thank you

    Hello,

This setting is currently available in both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

I don't have a link to Microsoft with more details about it, but it's basically if you want the Mixed Reality Portal to automatically open whenever you connect a headset or not. You will always be able to manually open the Mixed Reality Portal.

Hmm, it must currently be for Insider builds in Dev channel. I don't have this setting in the latest 21H1.
