How to Reset Sync in Microsoft Edge Chromium

Microsoft has adopted the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility. This new Microsoft Edge runs on the same Chromium web engine as the Google Chrome browser, offering you best in class web compatibility and performance.

The new Chromium based Microsoft Edge is supported on all versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server (2016 and above), Windows Server (2008 R2 to 2012 R2), and macOS.

Signing in to Microsoft Edge with a Microsoft account allows you to sync your browsing data across all your signed-in devices.

Microsoft Edge can sync the following data when turned on:

    • Favorites
    • Settings
    • Addresses and more (other autofill data)
    • Passwords
    • History
    • Open tabs
    • Extensions
    • Collections

If you are having problems syncing browser data across your signed-in devices, you try resetting sync.

Resetting sync will delete your browsing sync data from Microsoft servers. Browsing data on your devices will not be deleted.

This tutorial will show you how to reset sync in the Chromium based Microsoft Edge.

    Here's How:

    1 Open Microsoft Edge.

2 Click/tap on the Settings and more (Alt+F) 3 dots menu icon, and click/tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)

3 Click/tap on Profiles on the left side, and click/tap on Sync button on the right side. (see screenshot below)

If you do not see a left pane, then either click/tap on the 3 bars menu button towards the top left OR widen the horizontal borders of the Microsoft Edge window until you do.

5 Check or uncheck Resume sync after resetting sync for what you want, and click/tap on Reset to confirm. (see screenshot below)

If you check Resume sync after resetting sync, sync for your profile in Microsoft Edge will automatically be turned on again on each of your signed-in devices after reset sync has finished.

If you uncheck Resume sync after resetting sync, sync for your profile in Microsoft Edge will remain turned off on each of your signed-in devices after reset sync has finished. You will be able to manually turn on sync on each device if wanted.

Reset sync is currently only available in the latest Microsoft Edge Dev and Canary versions.
Reset Sync has been available in Stable version for quite a while (about 18 months, I think):

Select Settings > Profiles > Sync > Reset sync
      My Computer
